An old stone sundial on the floor marked out 28 years of my life into 4 groups of 7. At that time I was only 11 years in. I go back to that sundial now, 13 years later, thinking of all that transpired. Thinking of people and places woven into my heart in the journeying. The joy and pain accompanying any adventure of living well in the land. Right now, my soul is tilted towards wondering what the point was. I pause my litany of complaints and Jesus reminds me the offering was to him. He kisses my grumpy face and blesses the call inside me reminding me it’s not complicated. All the creating that flowed out of him, as an artisan, came out of that likeness, nurture and closeness. He was filled with the Spirit of God, but also with skill, ability, and knowledge. For Bezalel being filled with the Spirit flowed into craftsmanship. His mandate was to fashion a mobile resting place for the presence of God. Maybe he was chosen because he knew how to dwell well.

I love that Bezalel is the son of Uri, which means a son of light. We are the resting place for the presence of God that Bezalel was once anointed to create. We are also sons of Uri, sons of light, because the life we have flows from the light Jesus carries. What we create is formed in the shape of us, just as we are created in the shape of Him.
