Advent-ure

Every year, at this time, I light candles. Often making light patterns, like above. This year as I gazed at the flame patterns I was thinking about the Shepherds leaving their flocks and chasing the Angels. chasing the sky on fire, the heavenly lights. They left their flocks. It suddenly dawned on me how risky that was. It’s the equivalent of me leaving my van, with the keys in the engine, and my bank card on the seat. Leaving my worldly goods to chase the light. Chase the Angels. Chase the promise. Costly. Wild.

I wondered what invitations might be extended to me by heaven this Advent. And what I might have to let go of, or leave behind, if I was to follow. It might be risky, costly, wild. It might be cosy, safe and healing.

In a simple way, saying yes to one thing always involves saying no to another. Saying yes to a dinner invitation is saying no to an evening in with Netflix. We make choices.

When the invitation is extended by the 3God, we can be sure that big cost or little cost, it will be worth it.

Love lingers and longs for connection with you and me. How wonderful is that?
